Estiva – Perfect Ten

Enhanced Recordings has been releasing some very beautiful tunes over the past six years, and many of them have come from one of their exclusive producers Steven Baan, better known as Estiva. This talented Dutch artist has proven again and again there is hope for melodic trance with his stunning productions and remixes. To showcase some of his work, Enhanced has come up with this Perfect Ten idea, which comprises of a voting system where listeners choose their favorite songs from that artist. After voting is completed, the feature artist will rework the most favorite track as well as compile a mix of the top ten songs. This is an interesting concept, but it makes me question if they will follow through with the results. They have released the results of the top-ten selections, but I have yet to see the rework of I Feel Fine and the compilation mix. It’s okay though, because all ten of these singles are great by themselves. Strangely one of my favorites Fading Freedom is not found on this list, but I am happy with his two remix of November Lovely and Autumn Leaves making their way into the top 10. Check out the amazing creativity and unique sound of Estiva below.

10 Estiva – Strawberry Fields (Original Mix)

09 Estiva – Friends & Enemies (Original Mix)

08 Estiva – Lifting Leaves (Original Mix)

07 Estiva & Temple One – November Lovely (Estiva Mix)

06 Estiva – Les Fleurs (Original Mix)

05 Estiva – Next Level (Original Mix)

04 Estiva – Festival (Original Mix)

03 Temple One feat. Hannah Ray – Autumn Leaves (Estiva Remix)

02 Estiva – The Kingdom (Original Mix)

01 Estiva – I Feel Fine (Piano Mix)

Throughout Markus Schulz’ career, the Big Room Reconstruction has been a staple of his live sets. DJ edits are  great because songs are improved to sound better in a live performance. Effects and new sounds are added here and there to enhance each song’s appeal. Oftentimes these tracks are edited down in length, which is good news for all the DJs out there, but bad news for the listeners at home who want to hear the song in its entirety. Since most of these are not officially distrubited, I was surprised to find out that Coldharbour was planning to release 5 of these edited tracks. It makes sense that all of these were previous Coldharbour productions, so the legal pathways to get these songs out were easily crossed. Of course there are many more Markus Schulz re-cons which I would love to get my hands on (i.e. Miki Litvak’s Pollinator and the Beat Service remix of Closer), but unfortunately I have no idea if they will ever be released. For now, let’s consider ourselves lucky as we get to enjoy these 5 reconstructions touched-up by Markus Schulz, all in 320kbps.

Jan Johnston meets Tenishia – Flesh (Markus Schulz Big Room Reconstruction)

Mike Foyle presents Statica – Headrush (Markus Schulz Big Room Reconstruction)

Mr. Pit – Shana (Duderstadt Progressive Dub vs Coldharbour Intro Mix)

Reverse – Absolute Reality (Arty Remix – Markus Schulz Big Room Reconstruction)

Rex Mundi – Opera Of Northern Ocean (Phynn Remix – Markus Schulz Big Room Reconstruction)

Happy 4th of July

Happy Independence Day to all you Americans out there! Enjoy this shot of the San Diego Big Bay Boom Fireworks show as you chill out to this wonderful collaboration between Bart Claessen and Raz Nitzan. May your bellies be filled with barbeque and the skies filled with good music.

Andain – Promises

Today you’re taking a ride on the Josh Gabriel train so here is another one of his collaborations, this one being a project revived from over 6 years ago.  I’ve got to admit, I haven’t been posting up individual tracks lately. There are just way too many hot singles out there to share them all, so I kind of gave up on that a while ago. This one however, is pretty special because it marks the return of one of my top three EDM vocalists, Mavie Marcos. Her voice is pure loveliness and it compliments Josh Garbiel’s production work like chicken and waffles. Together they form Andain, and they are back with this new single on Black Hole Records. This one has an astonishing 11 different versions to it already. At one end of the spectrum is the chill out, original production made by Josh Gabriel. At the other end is the Secret Panda Society dubstep rendition. In the middle are some nice house/trance interpretations remixed by a variety of producers. Myon & Shane 54 did the best job on the rework, but I am also partial to the Marco V and Nitrous Oxide versions. This song has the potential to be one of the most popular vocal tunes of the year, and it certainly has my vote. It’s rare for a song to have so many different versions of it come out at once, so check them all out below…

Andain – Promises (Radio Edit)

Andain – Promises (Myon & Shane 54 Summer of Love Mix)

Andain – Promises (Nitrous Oxide Remix)

Andain – Promises (Secret Panda Remix)

Andain – Promises (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)

Andain – Promises (Marco V Remix)

Andain – Promises (Richard Durand Remix)

Andain – Promises (Kris O’Neil Remix)

Andain – Promises (Soundprank Remix)

Andain – Promises (Adam Sheridan Remix)

Andain – Promises (David Call Remix)

Weekend Sendoff 3

Greetings from San Diego… another week has flown by so here are some more songs I have been listening to. There’s not much else to say so let’s get down to the music, and I hope you guys have a great weekend.

Albert Keyn – Rapsody (Dyor Remix)
This is hands down my favorite track of the moment. Take a listen to this one with the volume up and I’m sure you will love it too. Absolutely massive!

Swedish House Mafia vs. Tinie Tempah – Miami 2 Ibiza (Sander van Doorn Remix)
SHM have been on fire in the electro scene, as shown by the popularity of all their releases. This single received a lot of remix work, with this remix and the Laidback Luke remix being two of the better ones.

Joti Sidhu – Fatso (Original Mix)
Here’s a proper track done right by British producer Joti Sidhu. This track is heavy on the psychedelic sound and comes from his new album, titled Order to Chaos.

Jochen Miller – Classified (Original Mix)
This is the new theme song for Energy 2011, released on High Contrast Records. Jochen has made some better tracks in the past, but this one is decent, made with a nice blend of techno and trance.

Sied van Riel – Crossroads (Original Mix)
Here’s another one that has been stuck in my head for a while. I first heard it in one of Sander’s sets, and it was instantly imprinted into my brain. Nice release from Liquid Recordings.

Bryan Kearney – Goosebumps (Original Mix)
This is the latest from Bryan Kearney, released on John O’Callaghan’s Subculture label. Does listening to this track give me goosebumps? Not quite, but it’s still pretty good. There’s also a Sean Tyas remix featured on the EP, and it’s everything you expect from a Tyas production.

Cressida – Breakfast with Zeus (Original Mix)
Here is a nice release from the German Euphonic Records. This isn’t your typical Cressida song, but it has been getting some major play from a lot of DJs.

Genix – Zzubb (Original Mix)
Genix has always put out some interesting work, and this one is of no exception. It doesn’t have the typical Genix style, but it does have a great tribal, techy feel to it.

Tempo Giusto – Inside the Bottle (Original Mix)
This is one of my favorite tracks from Tempo’s new album, Premiering In Theaters. It kind of reminds me of Timmy & Tommy – Full Tiltin (JOC Remix), which is a good thing. I recommend that you take a peek at some of tracks from his album because there’s a lot of creativity to be found.

Markus Schulz – Rain (Space Rockerz Remix)
If you are a Markus fan like I am, then this track will need no introduction. He has been playing the Phynn remix as of late, but I like this one a little bit more. The Space Rockerz are from Southern California as well so I gotta represent.

Ashley Wallbridge – Walk On Water feat. Elleah (Original Mix)
If I’m not mistaken, this is the second vocal track produced by Ashley Wallbridge (the first being I Believe released in 08). This song has that unmistakable Wallbridge sound which goes very well with Elleah’s voice. The vocalist is a Filipina from California, so congrats to her for breaking through into the market!

Guy Mearns -Quantum (Original Mix)
Here’s a nice one from Guy. On the flipside of the EP is String Theory, which is worth checking out as well.

MEM – Forza (Original Mix)
This is the new one from MEM, released on Spinnin Records. The style, which is nice and bouncy, sounds like something Marco V would produce.

Neal Scarborough – Kanya (Andy Blueman Remix)
Of course I have to leave you with something epic, so here is a nice Blueman remix. He has been doing a lot of remixes as of late, and this one is my favorite.

Coldharbour 100 Remixed (Part 2)

This is part 2 of the Best of Coldharbour Remixed release. All of these are new remixes of older Coldharbour tracks, so you can check them out and see they’re better than the original.

Hammer & Bennet – Language (Phynn Remix)
Here’s another one of those stadium destroyers, much like Phynn’s older Spacewalk.

Mike Foyle pres. Statica – Space Guitar (Aaron Camz Remix)
The original Space Guitar came out in 2005 and its melody hypnotized everybody. This 2010 version by newcomer Aaron Camz still retains the most basic portion of the song, but contains a modern take on the bassline. I think I like the original one more, but this remix is done tastefully.

Funabashi – Daylight (Estiva 2010 Remix)
I’m really feeling this remix by Estiva. The original feels darker and more progressive, which reminds me of Markus’ style back in 2005. Estiva’s new version has a little bit more energy and a bouncier beat.

Mr. Pit – Shana (DNS Project Remix)
I’m sure you all remember this song when it was first released a few years ago. The single contained some massive remixes by Duderstadt and Plastic Angel. This DNS version doesn’t have the same throbbing beat as the originals, but it’s a tad faster and still has the same vocal effects.

Lentos – Forget About Us (TyDi Remix)
You can definitely hear Tydi’s signature bassline in this one. This remix is pretty good, but it still doesn’t touch the Barnes & Heatcliff remix, which is my favorite.

Weekend Sendoff 2

Happy Friday everyone, here’s some more stuff I have been listening to recently. The release dates range from the end of August up until now. I’m only digging through Beatport about once a month now, so I’ve fallen a little behind on the latest releases. I tried to include a little bit of something for everybody, so I hope you enjoy the variety. Pretty self explanatory, there’s not much else to say except enjoy the eye-candy =)

Reverse – Final Fraction
Here’s a recent one from Vandit. I will pretty much listen to anything from Reverse ever since they released Distant Destiny last year.+1 for Californian trance!

Giuseppe Ottaviani – Lightwaves (Original Mix)

This track is pretty dope. In fact, it’s probably my favorite track out right now. Giuseppe’s work is constantly getting better and better, and I think this may be one of his best songs yet. This was released alongside Danceology, which is worth checking out as well. Another great release by Vandit… oops I mean Armada. Bump it loud! Tak, if you are reading this, I will see you at Circus next month just to hear this song!

Ali Wilson & Lee Osborne – Absolute

Here is a nice collaboration between Ali and Lee. The single (released on High Contrast) also contains another cool track, titled Monastrey. Absolute is a single off of Ali Wilson’s new album, which should be released sometime in the near future.

Dave Horne – For So Long

This one is really pretty especially when you reach the breakdown. The single also contains a nice remix by Ilya Soloviev.

Virtual Vault – Default (Dave 202 Remix)

The original version of this song definitely has some old school sounds in it, but the Dave202 remix really takes it up a notch. This was released on In Trance We Trust a few weeks ago.

W&W – Alpha

W&W have a distinct sound, and this track is of no exception. Parts of it sounds like old-Marcel Woods and other parts remind me of Nenes & Pascal Feliz – Platinum. These two put out a lot of dance-floor destroyers, so make sure you turn this one up loud.

Mason – You Are Not Alone (Original Mix)

Here’s an interesting one released by Animal Language. It has a very thick sound to it, definitely one of those ear ticklers.

Mr. Pit – Low Altitude (Original Mix)

Here is the other single which was released with Sky Traffic. This one’s not as good, but still worthy of a listen.

Tiesto – Speed Rail (Original Mix)
Here is another train-inspired track by Tijs. Of course you all should know Suburban Train, I guess this is the modern, 2010 version of that.

Ummet Ozcan – Arcadia (Original Mix)
This one has received a lot of airplay from as early as two months ago, as is the case with many of Ummet’s releases. It was released on Doorn Records on the 14th of this month, and has a bouncier feel to it compared to his older stuff.

Vast Vision – Behind Your Smile feat. Fisher (Suncatcher Remix)
It’s time to share some nice vocal tracks, so here is a recent one produced by the Dutch duo Vast Vision. Suncatcher makes some really good remixes, and the combination of his uplifting style and Fisher’s voice works very well on this song.

Faithless – Feelin Good feat. Dido (Ferry Corsten Fix)
I uploaded this one only because I have a feeling Ferry is going to play this tomorrow at Nocturnal. I haven’t heard Dido’s voice in a while, and I forgot how soothing it was.

George Acosta – Love Rain Down feat. Fisher (Original Mix)
Here’s another one featuring the great Fisher on vocals. There’s also a nice First State remix, but I prefer this one. It has a housey/beach feel to it, which is perfect for the end of this summer season. This single was released on Songbird earlier this month.

TyDi – Calling feat. Audrey Gallagher (Original Mix)

I think I heard this song about three months ago, but it was finally released at the beginning of this month. I like this one because it has that sound that TyDi has been using lately (see Vanilla, Waiting for the Sun, etc.) Blake Jarrell also makes an appearance on the remix, with both tracks released on AVA Recordings (Armada).

Gareth Emery – Sanctuary (Sean Tyas Remix)
The original version of this song is the first single off Gareth’s album Northern Lights. Mr. Tyas always adds an extra level of energy whenever he remixes a song, and that’s exactly what he does on this one.

DJ’s United – Remember Love

Here is the product of a collaboration between Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, and Armin van Buuren, created to benefit the victims and families of those affected in the 2010 Love Parade incident. Proceeds from this song will go directly to the Association of Non-statutory Welfare in North Rhine-Westphalia Germany. The track will be available exclusively on Beatport, so go grab your copy when it is released tomorrow. The song itself is ok, but it is the message and the concept of it which is important. It is a shame what happened at this year’s event, and from what I hear the annual dance celebration will no longer be continued. The world’s largest free dance event which symbolized love and peace has been tragically crushed forever, and all we have left to remember it by is this song. Pretty bad deal huh? The dance music scene has been getting a lot of crap lately (especially here in California), I really hope there’s some better publicity coming in the near future while the scene improves its reputation… RIP to those who passed.

Coldharbour 100 Remixed (Part 1)

Here’s a nice little release by Coldharbour with 5 great remixes. They have all seen some airtime from Markus Schulz in the past few months, so it’s nice to finally see them get released. There should be a part 2 out soon, and I will update this post once I grab those tracks as well. There’s no better way to start off the week than with some new tunes!

Arnej – They Always Come Back (Barnes & Heatcliff Remix)

Attention Deficit – What (Arnej Remix)

Benya – Prometheus (Tucandeo Remix)

Probspot – Blueberry (Rex Mundi Remix)

Skytech – Cardboard Box (Ummet Ozcan Remix)
