Every year in the summer, Markus Schulz takes his Global DJ Broadcast radio show to a little Mediterranean island for its Ibiza Summer Sessions. Most of you know I normally I don’t share radio shows, but this one is a special mix. Showcasing Markus’ favorite sunrise tunes, this collection of songs is perfect for chillin on the sand and staring into the horizon as the sun comes up. I like how Markus has really narrowed down the track selection from summer tunes all the way down to specific sunrise tracks. With songs like See the Sun, Sunrise at Ibiza, Southern Sun, and 6AM, there is a clear-cut focus on the passage between twilight and daybreak. Whether it is heard after a long night of partying or at the start of a perfect summer morning, this mix evokes images of beautiful dawns emerging from distant horizons. Some favorites of mine which I haven’t heard in a while are the Brian Eno track (this one gets a 10/10), Oakie’s Southern Sun, and Chuck Luis’ Collision. Markus also throws in two of his own mashups as well as one of his newer tracks, Lightwave. The flow is calm and the energy is peaceful, which is just right for this type of setting. You don’t hear of too many sunrise mixes, but Markus does a nice job with this one.
