Ah, good ol’ Monday has rolled around again, and like most Mondays, this one will require some nice tunes to get through the day. The start of the week always brings new challenges (or in my case more work), both of which would be better if coupled to a nice soundtrack. Here is the latest mix compilation produced by the Gatecrasher brand, the fourth album released under the Anthems series.  Mixed by Paul van Dyk, this album contains songs which most would consider to be classics, whether they be old or new. As expected, there are a lot of Vandit tracks found on this 3-cd album, which makes me wonder if this should be considered a true ‘anthem’ compilation or not. Some of the Vandit tracks seem like they were just thrown in the mix for the promotion of the label, but I guess that was to be expected due to the DJ who was chosen to mix the CD. Ironically, the really, really bad Filo & Peri track Anthem even made its way onto the album! These three CD’s are interesting because there are a lot of old and new tunes mixed into each other. I think the flow of each mix is fine, but sometimes the clash of old and new sounds just doesn’t work. I wish they would have categorized each CD into past, present, and future classics, and then mixed each song into its respective group, but I guess PvD keeps it more diverse with this format. Anyhow, preferences aside, here is an album which hopefully starts your week off right.
