This is the latest mix compilation put together by Dutchman Menno de Jong. The Intuition Sessions started with the South Africa edition in 2007, and has now evolved into the 2-disc South American-inspired release. For those of you who are geographically challenged, Rio de Janeiro resides on the eastern seaboard of the Brazilian coastline. It used to be the capital during the Portuguese establishment, and now there are over 6 million people who claim Rio to be their home. Rio is often associated with its world-renowned beaches and some of the hottest women in the world, which is a mighty combination for party-goers to obsess over. There are three things distinctively Brazilian that I believe drew Menno to this location: the Brazilian Bikini, the Brazilian wax, and finally, the Brazilian booty. With so much inspiration on the beach front, I’m surprised Menno got any work done at all. Here is the official description of the release taken from Menno’s website:

7000 kilometers, this is the approximate distance between the inspiration points of Dutch DJ Menno de Jong’s first and second ‘Intuition Sessions’ mix albums. The spark that ignited this project was Menno’s trip to South Africa in 2006 resulting in a very well received and reviewed release a year later. This year Intuition Sessions continues in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, bringing you two discs full of Trance & Progressive sounds inspired by the beautiful sceneries of Copacabana and Ipanema. The worldwide release date is October 22nd 2010.

The first CD is titled ‘Copacabana’ and with a more laid back mix it symbolizes the chique yet easy going vibe of the actual neighbourhood in Rio. Intuition exclusives such as Shane Halcon ‘North Gate’ and ‘Solid Ground’ as well as Ad Brown ‘Fractions’ join beautiful pieces by Dresden & Johnston with Nadia Ali, Jerome Sydenham, Bent and many more. Menno de Jong’s latest works ‘Better World’ and ‘Sunset In Rio’, both written specifically for this project, seal the deal on this disc.

Just around the bend the scenery changes, and so does the energy. Ipanema is known for its flamboyant parties and diversity of beach sports which fuel the fire of the second Intuition Sessions 2 disc. Hotshots such as Ferry Corsten, Rank 1, Nic Chagall, Mark Knight and Funkagenda provided peaktime material, complemented by brand new in-house tracks from Airbase, Mike Mikhjian, Orjan and others. The album slides to a spectacular finish with a track from an entirely different scene, James Hannigan originally composes for movies such as ‘Lord of the Rings’ but the MLV vs. Empty Mall remix of ‘Yuriko’s Theme’ featured in ‘Command & Conquer 3 – Red Alert’ closes the story on a powerful and epic note.
