For this week’s throwback, I have uploaded a classic back 2 back set by Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten from Godskitchen in Dublin, Ireland. This set is jam packed with great, great songs, and it contains some of the earliest work from Aly & Fila and Gareth Emery. For those of you who don’t know what a back 2 back set is, it is when two DJ’s are in the same booth taking turns spinning songs after one another. This is something that has sadly been lost in today’s performances, probably due to money issues. Today’s DJs are so big and demand so much money that I’m guessing most event managers can’t afford to pay for two at once. The last significant b2b set that I remember was when Tiesto and Ferry got together at Ruby Skye after a Popsicle event in 2008. I really do hope some of these big shots try to spin together more often, but who knows when the next time will be. Check out the tracklist for this event… the last three songs are so money, especially the Sunspot track. If you don’t listen to this entire mix, make sure you at least youtube that particular song (Rising Star is one of Armin’s aliases). The version that I have isn’t in perfect condition, but I like how you can hear the crowd reaction to the tracks being played. Enjoy!
